Phoenix Build Guide (Zenless Zone Zero): W-Engines, Drive Discs and Teams
The Phoenix build the main guides agree on: Plume of Rebirth and alternatives, Freedom Blues Drive Discs, 255 Anomaly Mastery, Velina and Remielle teams.

Phoenix is an S-Rank Fire Anomaly Agent in Zenless Zone Zero, featured on the "Into the Flames of Life" banner until November 11, 2026. Her specialty: she lets the whole squad's Anomaly damage land critical hits, and she deals most of her own damage through Ablooms. This guide sums up the build that the main guides agree on.
Role and kit in brief
- Role: Fire Anomaly damage dealer and an Anomaly driver for Vortex teams with a Wind Agent.
- Core Passive: any enemy hit by the squad's Attribute Anomaly DMG gets "Sear", and Anomaly DMG against it can CRIT. This works on Vortex, Burn and Ablooms, but not on Disorder.
- Anomaly CRIT Rate: it starts at 30% and grows with her initial Anomaly Mastery above 155, up to 100% at 255.
- Pyre: her Combustion attacks build Pyre, which she spends on an enhanced Basic Attack, Purifying Flame, that triggers a large Abloom.
- Rebirth: if she takes fatal damage, she comes back with 50% of her Max HP the next time she is switched in.
Best W-Engines
- Plume of Rebirth (S-Rank): her signature and best in slot, with Anomaly Mastery, Anomaly Proficiency and a Fire DMG boost.
- Angel in the Shell (S-Rank): the best stat stick when you do not have her signature, thanks to its Anomaly Mastery main stat.
- Weeping Gemini: the craftable free-to-play option, with stacking Anomaly Proficiency.
Best Drive Discs
- Main set: 4-piece Freedom Blues + 2-piece Phaethon's Melody. Freedom Blues means more Anomaly buildup, so more Burns and Vortexes.
- Alternative: 4-piece Chaos Jazz, still with 2-piece Phaethon's Melody.
- Keep 2-piece Phaethon's Melody in every build: its Anomaly Mastery is needed to max out her Core Passive.
Main stats and substats
| Disc | Main stat |
|---|---|
| Disc 4 | Anomaly Proficiency |
| Disc 5 | Fire DMG Bonus (ATK% as a backup) |
| Disc 6 | Anomaly Mastery |
Substats: Anomaly Proficiency, then ATK%, then PEN and flat ATK. Skip regular CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG: her Anomaly CRIT does not use them. The key target is 255 initial Anomaly Mastery, reached with an Anomaly Mastery W-Engine, an Anomaly Mastery Disc 6 and 2-piece Phaethon's Melody.
Best teams
- Phoenix, Velina and Remielle: the team every guide puts first. Phoenix's CRIT also applies to Remielle's Luminize.
- Phoenix, Velina and Yuzuha: the main alternative without Remielle.
Velina matters most: Phoenix's CRIT does not apply to Disorder, so she needs a Wind Agent to trigger Vortex.
Skill priority and Mindscapes
Level her Core Skill first, then Basic Attack. M0 already gives her full kit. M1 is the Mindscape guides rate highest: it adds 25% Anomaly CRIT DMG against Seared enemies and speeds up her Pyre. M2 extends Burn by 2 seconds, which helps in Velina teams.

FAQ
Does Phoenix need CRIT stats?
No. Her Anomaly CRIT comes from her Core Passive and her Anomaly Mastery, so build Anomaly Proficiency and Anomaly Mastery instead.
Can Phoenix work without her signature W-Engine?
Yes: Angel in the Shell is the closest alternative, and Weeping Gemini is the free option.
Is there after-sales support?
Yes: if the account does not match its description, we replace or refund it. See our FAQ.
